Trust me, I know it sounds odd. In fact, when I tweeted that I would be making this salsa I got mixed replies. Some said that honestly, it just sounded funny.
Well can I be honest? This salsa is simply delicious. It’s not what you think… it’s better. It’s your standard chunky salsa with tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, lime juice and more, but sweetened with the addition of fresh, sweet strawberries. It works, and it works well. We ate the salsa with chips and beer, a classic trio. But I think the salsa would be good on chicken, tacos or even fish.
And just to make sure I am not crazy, I invited over a non-foodie friend to try this salsa. I did not warn him, nor tell him about the strawberries. We cracked open a beer, opened the bag of chips and started going to salsa town. Halfway through it I think he realized it was a little different and somewhat special because he asked me if there were strawberries in it. Bingo!
Long story short, he loved the salsa. I love the salsa.

Strawberry Salsa
Ingredients
- 1 cup Strawberries chopped
- 1 can Diced Tomatoes drained (I used spicy withOUT chiles)
- 1 small White Onion chopped
- 1 Jalapeno seeded and minced
- 2 Garlic Cloves minced
- 2 TBS Lime Juice
- 1 TBS Vegetable Oil
- pinch Salt

- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Chill, covered for 2 hours before serving.
