Chocolate Brownie Cake

This easy to make chocolate brownie cake is an instant hit at any gathering. It's moist, chocolatey, and delicious, and the layers make it a truly decadent treat. Its layers are moist, and the frosting is topped with a delicious chocolate ganache. The recipe calls for both a bowl and a stand mixer, and it can be used for both the cake ingredients and the whipped-up batter.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz Chocolate Semi Sweet or Dark
  • 1 cup 2 sticks Butter
  • 1 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 6 Eggs separated

Instructions
 

  • preheat oven to 300 degrees
  • In a microwave safe bowl add chocolate and butter. Melt in 30 second increments whisking in between until creamy and smooth.
  • Whisk in sugar, vanilla, salt, and the six egg yolks. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl whip egg whites with electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Gently fold egg whites with chocolate mixture until combined and smooth.
  • Pour batter into a 9 inch spring form pan. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. Cool for at least one hour before removing from pan.

Notes

Another reason to love this cake (as if the chocolate brownie part wasn’t enough), is that is requires only six ingredients. Six ingredients you may already have on hand. It is decadent and gooey, yet forms a lovely crispy edge. The cake does fall in the middle, and that is part of it’s appeal. Top with powdered sugar and you are in action. I added strips of paper to the top of my cake to form some lines with the powdered sugar. It looks a bit silly, but tastes amazing, so who cares!
